What if it's a (really long) non-removable power cord? Do you cut it to length and install a power plug on the end? What happened to the warranty if you did that?
I can honestly not recall the last time I’ve seen a device in a rack with a fixed power cord. I’m sure they exist but not in my world. If I happened to run into this unicorn I would throw caution to the wind and cut the cord and put an appropriate end on it. If/when warranty was an issue and denied I’d just replace it...anything with a fixed cord is likely cheap rubbish anyway. If I’m having to send it in for discovery (no advanced RMA) I’m likely buying a replacement anyway to keep the party going.
Disclaimer: I also open up all IR only devices to bury the emitter inside. Now that’s living on the edge :-)
