CEDIA Wiring Standards

NEC and BICSI as stated above

What is missing is an installation best practice white paper/book
Which I suppose comes from the school of hard knocks

I guess we should all go to CEDIA and take their courses, eh?

BICSI has week-long training sessions that aren't cheap, they're more in-depth than CEDIA and it's more IP-based but they do cover installation practices. The techniques of opening walls, ceilings and getting wiring from one place to another without damaging something else is where the hard knocks come in, but it would seem that the more alert electrician apprentices would be good people to hire for LV, as long as they can be made to understand how and why it's different from HV. I would also teach DC theory to them. Some general construction experience/knowledge would come in handy, too.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."
