There is an expansion pack for VirtualBox that adds USB 2.0/3.0 support and I installed that.
Once it had the USB 2.0 device driver installed, it seemed like the connection to the Pronto was more consistent. I could download the configuration from the device several times, use features like Test IR and all seemed to be okay.
So I made the changes I wanted and tried to update the configuration back to the device ... and it errored out mid way through! The dialog box on the computer came up saying the connection had failed. The Pronto beeped and then showed a screen saying the configuration was invalid or that the memory was corrupted, and would not respond to any buttons.
Gulp.
