Man, I am willing to pay someone for their time, not to program for me but to show me what I am not getting with this IP thing. I just am not making the connection from IR setup to IP and its very frustrating.

What I do is set up a device like the Oppo as a IP device. You could also set it up as a IR device, but they should appear as 2 different devices. If you're trying to combine them into one it won't work (at least I don't think it'll work that way).
I set the MX5000 up in CCP the following way:
Create devices (most are IP). Define buttons with the proper command, ie. power on.
Create display screens that are what the user sees.
Link the device buttons to the user screen buttons. They can be single function IE chan up, or a macro.
IIRC, setting up an IP device you need to define its IP at the device properties. It's been a few months since I've been in CCP. If the defining of the device IP isn't your problem I can get into CCP and give a better description.
