Common sense is the key, if you ever see some company offering (for example) a lifetime warranty on a smart phone, read the small print, something funky has to be in there, nobody expects a smart phone to last more than a few years. but in the other hand, companies such as Snap, Crestron, etc offering lifetime warranties on products that usually dont have an expiration date such as speakers, lighting controls, etc should really mean a lifetime as a "forever" warranty, or as long as you, the buyer, owns the product. You probably don't see them offering lifetime warranty on stuff that usually fails quick, such as handheld remotes, sensitive electronics, etc.
