The Sony KDL-46EX400 doing digital signage in our lobby just died (it supported discrete on and off).
It has been replaced with a NEC E421; not my choice, it was laying around, not being used, worked, and met the budget goal of $0 for the project.
After some checking, it appears that the NEC E421 is a TOAD. Does anyone have any evidence to the contrary? Also, no serial port.
Failing that...Xantech used to make the CSM1 current sensor, which could be tied into some logic to sense if the TV is on or off. Xantech has since discontinued this product; are there any equivalents in production?
Thanks!
