I have been easing off several clients sitting on proposals for JAP and AVPro as consumer trends are moving away from set top boxes and have all but ceased for physical media. AT&T techs will grant non LoS status just using the magic word and the nations leading MSO is in beta with their live streaming app. For about $250 each display in a residential setting can have Roku and an ATV and cover most, if not all desired content. Additionally, off-air seems to be refusing to die off like its competition. The evolution of content protection and resolution has been in constant motion and to lock in at this point to today’s standards makes me nervous as hell. DM is, and has always been the benchmark- but is just as susceptible to sunsets. Twisted pair can’t keep up. Fiber “shelf life” makes me shiver. Conduit for the win, but likely will remain empty for the immediate time being.

We pull and use fiber on a regular basis for DM and even for the Inneos extenders. Very few of our clients have cut the cords and still rely on cable/sat. I personally cut the cord a couple year ago. It is not a compromise for all.

We also get to work in very large homes with dedicated mechanical rooms so we have a home for our gear in many cases. We work with some top notch builders as well who get what we need to support out customers.

I do more than my share of jobs with a cable box and Apple TV stashed behind the display. With an optical out to a Sonos Playbar.
When good enough is not good enough.
