I think this was discussed during the previous year and we had all sorts of comments until some innocent soul pointed out that the kinds of commands presented to a device via RS-232 are wholly unrelated to the commands presented via IR. That is, they cannot be translated from one style to another.
What CAN work, and what I believe is discussed here, is a method of taking a known set of IR commands and a known set of RS232 commands, and creating a chart that correlates the two sets of commands.
That is, you hit IR command 14 and it gives you the RS232 command for 14. It totally depends on someone having worked all this out beforehand.
What this seems to be, from the beginning of the thread, is the promise that if you have an IR controller, this device can spit out the RS232 command that is the equivalent of any IR command you send to it. It's not.
