It will be above the balcony, exposed. If the box is weatherproof, it should not matter.
I was worrying about what it would look like not about weather resistant. My thinking was that if it were under the balcony you could get away with a big surface mount metal box.
I found this, but we've never used a projector behind glass. Who knows if it will work.
