I actually commend the drivers ed now....It takes 2 different sections to get their license, the kids need to have 50 hours of drive time, a portion of that being "night time" driving before they can advance to the second portion of the class.  We have to keep track of it on an app.

They also need to know how to parallel park, etc. or they simply don't pass. My kids school has a mangled car sitting right next to the American flag every year.

I drove myself to drivers ed at one of my school teachers house that as I recall took a few weeks after school...But I lived in the sticks.

My wife can't parallel park to this day.

I didn't pay any attention to any of this stuff when my oldest boy was going...now that my daughter is in the middle of it, I'm a nervous nelly.

What gets me is not the official instruction is the absolute lack of interest into "how this stuff works"

I know this was total sex bias but in my dads world there was no licence before.... I could chuck all fluids.... Change the oil.... Change a flat a restow the spare.

My sisters had only to check the fluids...because in dads world there were plenty of guys who could do the other stuff.

My kids totally zoned out as I tried to get them through half the stuff.

I wanted to know how it worked...they only want to know how to work it.
