I needed to install a sub in a house where a box just wasn't gonna happen, so I found a woofer that would work in a small enclosure and mounted it in the wall. Then, I bought a Pyle in-wall sub, jettisoned the driver and screwed the grill to the box I built. Works pretty darned well.
