Your sleep test results should tell you the numbers. It should also tell what your oxygen level baseline was and how low your oxygen level dropped. Based on those numbers your apnea would also be described as mild, moderate or severe, I'm guessing it is severe. You should learn what those numbers are so you have a baseline to compare against.
Regardless of what they were, once you get into the routine of wearing the cpap, your ahi numbers with treatment should be reduced to less than 5 (and maybe much less). Keep in mind treatment is also progressive. Meaning that as you continue to wear it, you'll probably find yourself feeling better and better.
Unless you require a full face mask, try the dreamwear other people mentioned. You can buy it on amazon for about $50. Experimenting with and finding a mask that works for you is one of the most important parts of treatment.
