Bringing this back up. Needed to work on my boat trailer lights and wanted to solder all connections. Dipped all of the black wire ends in muratic acid(pool strength). When wire was clean I neutralized the end in water for a minute. Wiped it dry then soldered my connections. Worked like a champ for this application.
