Is it possible to install Windows XP on a virtual machine in Win 10? Will Microsoft refuse to allow XP to be authorized because it's not supported any longer?
Hi, Dawn - If you are referring to the built-in "Virtual PC / XP Mode" that came with Win7 Professional/Enterprise, than yes: XP Mode is explicitly blocked in Win10.
You would need to look at alternate Virtual Machine options, like Virtual Box (
https://www.virtualbox.org/). You can run VBox on Win10 (the Host), and then create a new Virtual Machine that will boot and install WinXP (the Client).
With VBox (or VMWare Workstation), you can run isolated instances of another O/S on your main PC. There are integration capabilities that will allow the Pronto on a USB port become visible to the Virtual Machine Client O/S.
