I never got any response to my questions to you. Let me repeat, and probably write it a bit differently:

First, how could it be that COM Ports are assigned to particular numbers for connections on a computer that has USB connections but no DB-9 connectors?

Second, are the USB connections on a computer numbered with a number that functionally means something? There's no number designation for any of the USB ports shown in the T420 model.
