In the absence of a full blown control system with relay contacts, could a local 3X1 or 5X1 switcher be used to disconnect and reconnect, and accomplish the same thing? Or is the DirecTV power problem still going to rear its ugly head?
A switch will not fix this issue, most keep the hot plug active to speed switching.
However I do have a unit coming (sadly CEIDA) that is an IR connecting block with a built in relay with code learning for Open/Close to provide a cost effective answer to this control issue.
