I've seen this issue with CES as well.
In fact the old CES Chicago show had an open door policy on the weekend. That, and the crazy union rules, brought that show to a close.
Yes pricing is sometimes discussed out in the open. Earthquake actually had these big ass signs with the dealer cost at one of the shows.
CES has tightened things up a bit, but mostly to force more people to pay for a pass, rather than keep the consumers out.
CEDIA should have retained some control over this, but maybe when they sold the rights, no one thought about that. It sure seemed like they did do a lot of things with no thoughts of the end result.
