You're almost right. While I did see humor in it, I saw a lot of complaining.
Your wife is right to have your child consider how she might be hurting someone with what you call a joke. That's just part of being a good parent.
Pranks in general are puerile behavior and every "good" prank is mean. To enjoy a prank, you have to be immune to the effect you're having on people. That's a crappy way to live and a crappy person to be.
It's too bad that you think the possibility of being an adult only lies with women.
