However, the cable is its own problem. It's unique, so you can't just go buy, say, a VGA or DVI cable and use that instead. Also the cable adds four places of possible failure: the connector in the TV, the connector in the box, and each connector in the cable. Plus, that cable is probably the wrong length more than 90% of the time, in particular it's too short for many setups.

Ernie I'm fully aware that this is probably going to be a one time problem, and that we will end up with a spare box sitting in the van for eternity. But the boss doesn't like the possibility of it happening again and leaving the client disappointed. Not to mention having to roll the van out there again.
