Interesting, but seems gimmicky to me.  Looks like they'd be cumbersome when they are on and really only help you with one step which is putting them on... you'd still have to put down your stuff and reach down to take them off.

I still wear show covers all the time in finished homes and use these from ULine.  They're waterproof and washable:
