I've been asked to share some information regarding serial control activation on two series of 2017 consumer televisions. The two series of consumer TVs, the MU6 and the MU7 series 4K Ultra HDTVs do not feature the conventional "Ex-Link" port found on the MU8 and above series of TV that is used for serial control. The Samsung Ex-Link is a 3.5mm stereo mini port is not featured on the MU6 and MU7 series. Serial control is made possible by connecting a proprietary USB Adaptor that we provide free of charge to most all of our custom installation distributors and any authorized Samsung dealer.

Samsung suggests ordering the USB Adaptor from the authorized distributor that supplies you. If in a jam, we'll ship you directly but strongly recommend getting them from your supplier. AVAD, ALMO, INGRAM, and a few other custom install distributors should have them in stock. I've shipped all these guys thousands, they should have access to them.

The Samsung USB Serial Adaptor is the name of the part. The adaptor connects to the TV's USB and features a 3.5mm stereo mini port on the other end. If you need the DB9 dongle (3.5mm to DB9) for the install, there are many aftermarket accessories available that will work.

Once the USB Serial Adaptor is installed, there is a activation procedure that must be performed. The document can be downloaded from the Samsung Custom Installation Portal once you register. Of course, you must be an authorized Samsung dealer. This is the website address: [Link: samsung.com]

If you are in a jam, we'll accommodate you, but again, strongly recommend getting the USB Serial Adaptors from your TV supplier and register access to our custom installer portal. There is a tremendous amount of product information - CAD Drawings, 2D drawings, Control Codes, product specs and comparison grids. There is also a link for special custom installer tech support that includes support for RS232.

Sorry for all the confusion on this.
