Just tried the test with 50ft of cat6, direct to 3.5mm connectors, no balun and it didn't even recognize speakers being connected.

Edit: then I tried it with the mic plugged into the extension and it worked.

The results are extremely compelling. The EQ curves are remarkably similar to the mic on its own. Some slight variance but I doubt you'd hear it.

Again I'm swiping between photos so we'll see when I can post pics side by side but this is promising. At first glance a 50 ft extension over cat6 seems to be plausible.

If Cat6 turns out to be a viable option, we could simply put an adaptor on each end ofthe networking cable we ran for the display and use it.
