Wise? Not sure but I can tell you I've never done a 7ch speaker setup where the cable runs were 15ft, nor are mine ever equal length speaker runs, which should matter to. But it's what I did.
I won't get to it in the next few weeks I don't think but I'll make a up set of custom 50 ft extensions through an audio balun, 3.5mm keystones for Audyssey, and then I'll do a 50ft balanced cable/balun/baseline with REQW as well, post it all here and we can all crap on the results together.
I can tell you right now that extending the mic changed things. But again I think it's more about balancing and then tuning by ear afterwards. We can all get nice results doing that. No two rooms are the same, speakers and placement vary. It's not like we can get a perfect reference EQ curve and then make every install match that, using Audessey.
REQW may be a very good substitute. It wouldn't take too much longer to adjust the channels manually, but then if Audessey that bad all around, We should all completely abandon it. And it sounds like some have.
I personally feel I achieve good results using it and then tuning by ear.
I thought about infuture accommodating a local Install for the purpose of tuning the receiver. Extra speaker wire, time, box or wall Plate in an accessible location. I'd rather not but maybe that's what's needed.
