I have had a bed rug in my 2005 f150 since it was new, it looks almost like new. It is made out material like is used in trunks of cars but with a foam backing. I do put dirty stuff on a tarp to help keep it cleaner. I use the vacuum cleaner on it or the shop vacuum. I will have one in my next truck for sure. Best part is you can crawl around on it and it's easy on the knees.
I should add, I have a lid on my bed, I would not do it without a lid.
