I have had the same problem, it's not an iPort issue but an Apple one. Talking to the folks at Dana Innovations they told me the secret, Apple is aware of the battery issue on iPads and if you take it to an Apple store they will give you a new one. I can confirm that it worked when I did it last. The iPad was out of warranty and I had no receipt. Good luck
