I grew up with carbs and points!

I'll take the "new" electronically managed drive trains any day over "old school".

More efficient,easier to troubleshoot,better mpg,no over heating,fires right up,
AND......my dream motor, to replace my 550 hp carbed small block in my Vette...

I've done this retro for others quite a few times!
Perfection with pump gas.
No more 110 octane in 5 gallon jugs!!

Sorry to hear about your other truck.

This works well if less power is a good fit, like an S-10 pickup- when I did marine service, we went to Indiana for training and the guy who owns the facility had that combo in one of his vehicles. To say it was 'shoe-horned' into the engine compartment wasn't far from the truth.

A friend told me that he wants to do some upgrades to his Chevy 3500 dually, now that the body work is done and that he's planning to install the big block he rebuilt a few years ago, partially because the OEM engine has a problem that requires removing it, anyway (the repair would be a royal PITA with the engine in place). I said, "So you want to replace the engine because you have a couple of broken exhaust manifold bolts?".
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."
