Back to original question. I know you said you're looking for retail price. Ask claims adjuster if clients have replacement policy.
The only reason to ask for original retail price is to calculate devaluated price to cut a check. Client will almost always be better of with replacement equipment as it'll include cost of current equipment procurement, labor for installation, repairs, programming and warranty.
