I've been wanting a new laptop for a while. Mine is getting long in the tooth.
I've been putting it off due to PITA factor of moving/reinstalling all the programs.
Data is easy -- sync Dropbox and I'm done.
Passwords too since I use LastPass.
It's all the weird old programs that I haven't touched in 3+years that I know are going to come back and bite me in the arse at some point. Things like old URC programs, Panasonic 824 software, etc.
This hinge failure is a message from above that I should upgrade. I can't argue with higher powers. :-)
BTW, I'm probably going to fix the hinge since it's still a good and powerful machine. I can give it to my DiL and it'll get plenty of use with any of the 19 grandkids.
