There is no need for a pre trim or pullback if you use EZ’s and their tool. That’s the point some of us are trying to make. If I wasn’t using the tool and I couldn’t achieve a truly flush final trim, then I’d worry about shorts, poor fits in the jacks, and botched strain relief if I resorted to a pullback.

One might want to practice inserting the wires a couple times with a scrap piece of cable, but you won’t need to waste any connectors.


I think you are not replying to what Ernie was saying. Ernie's response was to flandon, who stated he used the EZ RJ45's but said not to use the EZ Crimp tool and just hand trim so wires don't stick out through the connector. Erine was trying to explain why that method is bad. That is how I read it.
