Hazard Fraud, Costo(s) and Sam's Clubs of the world all have small, DIY kits.
I'm sure fleaBay and Amazons do as well.
No first hand experience -- I carry my tote from the van. I use shoulder strap; easy enough and I don't do it daily.
How large is your house?
You can make fun of Harbor Freight all you want, but the truth is they do have some hidden gems. Sure you gotta be careful with what you buy, but a lot of hand tools and what not are a good value. I have a couple sets of wrenches I use for my car that have all worked out great. Their unibits cannot be beat for the price. Home Depot and other places, $50 for 1. HF, a pack of 2 or 3 different sized unibits, $15-$20. AND, they work as well if not better. I love the narrow width bit in the kit. It works perfectly for those situations when you need to throw a butterfly toggle bolt in a medal stud. It will drill the sheetrock and stud without making a gaping wide hole in the sheetrock that the larger diameter unibits would.
