I'm talking about how we communicate and what we get when we have technical discussions without technically accurate statements.

An accounting teacher told his students that they could bring a three by five card filled with notes to the first test of the semester.

That statement is very much like some of the first attempts we make at asking a question about an audio/video problem.

Here's what one of the accounting students did:



While this is humorous, it points out that sometimes things we state or ask about don't get across or are misinterpreted because we leave out details, thinking that everyone will fill in the blanks exactly the same way we do.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
