So I went through the whole fight of trying to make pixel based motion detection work on my camera systems. Results ranged from the feature being pretty much useless outdoors or anywhere near windows to halfway decent inside rooms with no windows.
My question is... isn't it possible to just use a heat based motion detection like on our everyday outside lights then interface that with the contact closures on the DVR? I know you can even separately buy the sensor part and wire your lights however you want.
To that effect, what is the story with "built-in" motion detection on cameras like a Speco 7246? They have the alarm out wires. Are they actually doing heat based motion within the camera or is that just pixel based as well?
