This will bring up a touche subject.
I can see having a weapon in the vehicle, I do. But to carry 'IN' the customer's home? That just seems rude and inconsiderate to me. You are a guest in their home, whether you are doing work or not.
Ideally for discreet carry, they have .380 and other smaller caliber handguns, that are very slim & small. At close ranges, how much stopping power do you really need when dealing with humans. I like the Ruger LCP.
