I only have the problem with cursor controls when using Amazon and Netflix. In all other cases (the Roku system menus or other streaming services) the setup above works fine.

I communicated with Roku support, and they said ...

Since the issue seems to be with amazon and Netflix, there might be a
playback issue with the channel.

Please try these steps in both the channels to refresh the channel

1. On your Roku player, can you please go to Home page and highlight the
Netflix channel and press the * star button to remove the channel?

2. Once removed, please unplug your Roku player from the power outlet and
plug it back in afterwards.

3. Once back on the homepage, please go to Streaming Channels and re-add
the Netflix Channel.

Frankly I have not had a chance to try this. But it sure seems to be some sort of bug in the Roku firmware (or perhaps in the cloud), rather than an issue with any of our remotes. I hope they fix it.

As to your comment on where the codes reside ... I tried that originally, but the current setup works better. I have lots of TVs, and all of the remotes have pages for all the locations in the house. Some local commands like on/off and volume I do of course control locally. By centralizing things like channel numbers in the system macros, I only have to put them in the RP-6, not each remote. I have one Roku (and one Apple TV and two DirecTV boxes) for the entire house, and they are located in an equipment room where I have a matrix switch. All are controlled via IR emitted from the RP-6.  The use of system macros made everything easier for me, and reliable and "efficient" enough.
