I understand that even having it completely dark and with even a $25k projector, it will not be the best, especially around the edges with any light. The budget is tight and it is what it is.
But it is still wrong. You are ready to put your name on a project that will be so inferior that it will be embarrassing. Plus you will still have the expensive bulb problem when you are done. You are better off saying that it is just not doable. Or tell him that for you to do it, this is what it takes, else he is wasting his hard earned money.
