The Ring Chime is for homes that do not have a working chime (which is a lot of them).

On that note, it's worth the effort to keep a couple doorbell transformers on the truck. Even when the house is wired for a lighted doorbell that could power a Ring, they seem to be broken even when the client says that 'everything worked before'.

Have to add a transformer now because the 12vac won't keep the keypad charged.
