The idea of "reality" that I started with was setting the scene for some humor. The response veered WAY far away from humor!

The words you used were few and simple, but no less a mind than Stephen Hawking "expresses a radically skeptical view of reality in general," according to Steven Weinberg, "The Universes We Still Don't Know," New York Review of Books, February 10, 2011. Weinberg is a Nobel laureate in Physics. He disagrees with Hawking: "Like most people, I believe there is something real out there... I can't help believing in an objective reality." See? Not so simple.
We coulda just kept it in the realm of humor.
