It won't work. My 2014 Macbook Pro and 2015 Macbook Pro will not pass a signal through the front or rear ports of my Denon AVR to the TV. The Macbook is a HDMI relay which is Source > Sink. The computer doesn't allow it to be connected to anything other than the display.
It's a pain but that's the way it works.
Sorry for the two year old reply but DING DING DING. Lowhz is spot on. I connected her Surface and bingo, all was good.
Stupid me sent the AVR in for repair and got it back saying nothing was wrong with it.
