"the HDMI OUT jack will output DVD video signals only" out of the sony 555 manual.
EVERY combo unit I have ever touched, from Sony, Toshiba, JVC, Philips, Mitsubishi, etc. NONE of them have have ever output VHS over HDMI. Obviously I havent touched EVERY player, but id say ive put a dent in that list.
