EVERY DVD/VCR I have ever touched does NIOT output the VCR side on the HDMI output. I just installed an older Sony combo player into a $300,000 project we just wrapped up. it needed to go into a zektor 16x16 Palladia III switch. I bought a cheap composite to HDMI converter and it works flawlessly!!!
Yeah if it's just a Sony combo player it probably doesn't but the ones that record onto the DVD side do at least those models I mentioned play everything out of every output.
