What is IR Universal Smart Hub?
The IR Universal Smart Hub is a companion to the IR Universal Remote app and the IR Universal Remote website. Since the first release of the the IR Universal Remote application it has required an Android device with a built in IR blaster to work. The only way to support devices without an IR Blaster was to build an external unit with an IR blaster built in. Thus the IR Universal Smart Hub was created. As an added bonus the IR Universal Smart Hub doesn't require a phone or any apps to work. It is an IoT based solution that allows control from any device that has web capabilities and is connected to the same network. Control the hub from your phone, computer, or maybe even your fridge if it has web capabilities.

What is IR Universal Remote?
IR Universal Remote is an Android application I released back in 2013. The application allows users to control TVs, Cable Boxes, Radios, Air Conditioners, Fans and more from their Android phone or tablet.

How to Send IR Codes?
How to Send IR Codes? The IR Universal Database has over 500,000 unique individual infrared codes. There are thousands of supported devices already available. By using the IR Universal Remote app or website you will be able to access and send any of the 500,000 IR codes using the IR Universal Smart Hub.

+Reading (Learn Physical Remotes)
The +Reading version of the hub allows reading and saving your physical remote codes directly into the companion Android app or you can send the codes to your web browser where you can copy the raw text of the codes. You can also send the learned codes from your web browser or any IR supported device. The infrared reader works with most consumer remotes at 38khz frequency.

Major Brands Supported

Micro USB Powered
Use any USB power source to power the Smart Hub. The power cable is the same as the cable used to charge Android phones. Use a wall adapter to plug the device directly into the wall or you can plug it into the device you are controlling.

Power Sources
  • Wall Outlet - Plug the Smart Hub in to any wall outlet with a USB to A/C adapter. It's the exact same as plugging your phone into the wall outlet.
  • Mobile Power Bank - Using a mobile power bank allows you to take your Smart Hub on the go. Using the Smart Hub with a mobile power bank is perfect for traveling. Whether you are staying at a hotel or with family you can set the Smart Hub on a night stand or side table without worrying about a place to plug in.
  • Phone / Tablet - If you have an On The Go (OTG) cable then you can power the hub from your phone. This can be the perfect alternative to using a mobile power bank. By powering the Universal Smart Hub By your phone you are able to take it with you with you on the go with little to no additional accessories.
  • Laptop - Using your laptop or desktop computer to control the Smart Hub? Why not plug it in there as well. You can plug the Hub into any USB outlet. Whether you have a Mac, Windows, or Linux computer you can plug the hub in. You can also plug the Smart Hub directly into your TV or your Cable box.
How Universal is It?
The hub is meant to be as universal as possible. Not only can you use it to control your TV but you can also use your Smart TV and other smart devices to control things. If you do have a smart TV then you can use your TVs web browser to view and send codes from the IR Universal website to the hub. So if you have a fan or a radio in your house then you can point the Smart Hub at it and use your TV remote to control the fan or radio.
