I recommend 4K. True, the old sitcoms will never be 4k, but the modern stuff looks much better. The 4K models also tend to use more modern chipsets that will have fewer motion artifacts.

If the receiver is holding you back with respect to video, you could attach the inputs directly to the TV or a switch and route audio back to the receiver.
