Yeah, the problem with URC seems dependant on the exact paint they were using - not even the color, but the specific batch.

I have old, daily used MX-800's and MX-850's that are still perfectly fine. But, I also had a MX-700 that got **horrible**. I still have the top (beige) half of the case, and it feels like someone painted it with rubber cement that's still drying. URC sent me a replacement case, and that one, even though the same colors, has been fine. Probably different paint supplier.

I have drawers of other URC/UEI remotes with tactile paint that are still fine.
