I ended up unsticking the IR emitter and pointing it at different places on the receiver, nothing. I cranked up the output of the port, and it worked!
I ended up finding a place to stick the emitter that works that's maybe 1/4" from where I had it before.
I probably should use the direct IR input line.
Direct is cleaner but emitter should work fine . Always aim a flashlight at your gear to find the ir window. You will be able to see exactly where to stick your emitters
