Ok I made some progress. I set up my remote all again from scratch (which is fine, it needed a clean-up).
The RX-A860 was still not working! I traced the problem to what seems to be the RF and IR emitter.
If I set the remote to output IR, it works fine!
If I just try to use RF and the MRF-350, it's not working. I can see the IR emitter blinking when I try to change the settings for the Yamaha, but the Yamaha isn't responding.
Any idea how to debug that? I have the IR emitter stuck on right where the manual says the IR receiver is located. I even tried to pull it off and sort of aim it at different parts of the receiver... no dice!
Frustrating!
