I've had issues before running a source through a matrix then sending one output to the AVR and another to the display at the same time. It can confuse the EDID.
I thought that might be a problem myself. This is the first time we've used this switcher in particular. It offers both ethernet and HDMI on each output. Analog audio works from the cable box to the theater AVR, though, and we still get picture with both the ethernet and hdmi outputs in place. So, I dunno. *shrugs shoulders*
