Me personally, I think we need to throw all the bums out, both sides, set term limits, and start over. Make it actually to "serve your country" again and get rid of the career politicians.

Add to that....fix the outrageous illegal gerrymandering going on in the statehouses. And the immoral influence of PAC's and Super PACs on campaign contributions.
All the worry about national elections is just tilting at windmills until we make politicians actually beholden to their true constituencies again.
