My client specifically asked for an Arcam. It was solid and had it all industry wise. I didn't pay much attention because I wasn't fond of the room's sound, but he thought it sounded worlds better than the Oppo at least on CD playback.

Were they hooked up the exact same way?
After the customer puts the bong down, have him recheck all his settings on the machines and do an A/B comparison. There's no way he's going to hear a difference between 2 players, that are hooked up the exact same way, that both are known for perfect reproduction.

'If' he has them hooked up with analog connections and was listening thru a set of high-end headphones (or dedicated room that was tuned), you 'might' could tell a slight difference because of the DACs used. But Oppo has the 105 model (using ESS DACs) that still costs way less than the Arcam.
Plus, the Arcam calls itself a universal player but doesn't even play DVD-A discs. LOL.
