I have used Sony for many, many years. They have always been solid for me. I have tried every other brand to test once in awhile but I am never compelled to want to move away from the Sony players for the price & features.

For higher-end, you just can't beat the Oppo. Unfortunately, there is not that much markup on the product - and that's if you are lucky enough to be a dealer (I got cut awhile back because I couldn't do the volume they wanted).

Honestly however, who 'really' uses the disc player part of a bluray player these days? I know I do but I also know I'm the rare exception.
Most people only use their bluray players to stream. And because of that, they would be much better served by a streaming device: Roku, AppleTV, FireTV, etc...
Even for those that do still use the disc player part, a separate streaming box is still a good idea.

I agree about the separate streaming box. TV and BDP's are just not great streamers (although I think BDP's do handle it better than TVs, which always seem to lockup or have other issues. To your point about Oppo margin, how much margin are you making on a Sony BDP? I know its no more than on an Oppo, just the total dollar of the sale skews it to where you think you should be making more.
