Thanks I tried code 1238 for the Yamaha receiver and it worked pretty well, however there was just a power command and not a separate on/off command. I searched again for quite a while, but didn't have any luck. Do Yamaha receivers not have separate on/off commands? Are they all just a power toggle?

How do you handle this if this is the scenario if I was going to program a macro for watch tv and play xbox? Just program everything to turn on with the on button while not doing anything with turning devices on/off in the macros? Just curious how others are handling this. (note: thanks to shallowearth's comment I may hook up my old harmony just to see if I can find an on/off there).

Shallowearth, thanks for the information. I'm pretty sure it does come out of standby when I hit the play button so I will give that a shot. I do also have an old harmony remote, so I can maybe try that as well.
